I'm going to become a bit of a nag about this one for that week, and hopefully the message will get through to SOMEONE. It shouldn't just be for a week either, it should be a rule we set for always.

No Fat Talk Allowed. Ever.
Let's keep this one simple. This is aimed at college women, but I think it needs to be for EVERYONE. Men too.

I JUST ATE A BIG BAG OF CHOCOLATES. AND I LOVED IT.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful video...*wonders if she can smack up some posters about that all over her campus*
ReplyDeleteThat was absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely spread the word!!
I want some chocolate now, and I don't have any.
ReplyDeleteSpread the word folks.
Loved the video. Thanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteI know that when I gained weight (after being on IV nutrition and nearly dying due to a clot, before I knew I had APS) I really had a hard time. I would have been one of those that would have chosen to be hit by a truck instead.
Still dealing. In my head I am still the beautiful 20something, so when I see all THIS in the mirror... ouch. It starts with personal acceptance. Once we do that, other people's expectations mean less.
Just found your blog and I love it especially this post Thanks for doing your thing.
ReplyDeleteLove it love it love it! I'm starting a new job and there's a lot of fat talk around the lunch table. I never engage in it, and I try to change the subject as quickly as possible, but I'm not sure how to directly challenge it without being the annoying FA evangelist.
ReplyDelete(Maybe a good followup post can be ideas on how to combat fat talk without being annoying and pushy about it?)
Thank you Maria and Desiree - just doing my bit, thumping the table and demanding to be treated as a human being.
ReplyDeleteMaria, I am working on something along those lines, though I don't really know the answer. It's a tough one when it's SOOOO deeply ingrained in people's behaviours. But maybe I can open up the floor for suggestions.
Watch this space.
